The unceasing attack on the Director of Administration of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Mr. Nelson Menorkpor has continued unabated with the former Chief Executive Officer CEO Professor Otu Nartey and the Board Chairman Mr Eddie Annan playing a critical role in making sure that that office is given to another person. Information gathered by The Moment and The Accra Times has it that the office of the Director of Administration which was under lock and key pending a court case between Mr Nelson Menorkpor and the Korle-Bu Board, was in the early hours of Thursday 20th December 2012, opened, possibly to enable the new Director have access to it, without recourse to the legal process. The two papers’ checks at the time the office was opened revealed that embattled Director’s office was being cleaned for the new appointee by the Board Chairman and the CEO. It could be recalled that, the office of the Director of Administration was unlawfully locked up on the orders of the ex- Board Chairman, Prof Seth Aryeetey who claimed that, the decision was the Board’s. Meanwhile, some members of the Board stood against such a decision explaining to the whole nation that they never taken such decision to eject the Director from his office and that what happened was an autocratic decision taken by the then Board Chairman Prof. Aryeetey and not the Board. The members have sworn an affidavit to that effect stating categorically that “the Board has never at anytime and at any Board meeting taken any decision to revoke the appointment of Nelson Menorkpor as Director of Administration of the Hospital.” They also stressed that any letter written by anybody purporting to revoke the appointment of Nelson Menorkpor as Director of Administration of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital was written without their consent, concurrence and knowledge. This has led to a legal tussle between Mr. Menorkpor who was holding that position before the unfortunate incident and the Korle-Bu Board in whose name the decision to lock up his office was claimed to have been taken. As the case drags on in court, the New Board Chairman Eddie Annan and Prof. Otu Nartey have caused the publication of an advertisement seeking the services of a new Director of Administration for which they went ahead to shortlist applicants and called them for interview against the Minister of Health’s directive calling on them to withdraw the advertisement and furnish the Ministry with information on the court case. Mr Eddie Annan, the Board Chairman who has proven through his actions at the hospital, to be in league with those trying to collapse the hospital, has refused to heed to the Minister’s call and went ahead to interview applicants for the position. Investigations have revealed that Mr Menorkpor’s office will be in use after the Christmas festivities.
