Education Director commends chief for promoting education

Pinihe (B/A), June 16, GNA- Mr. Kwabena Agyeman-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education, has commended Nana Osei Awuah, regent of Pinihe, a farming community, in Brong Ahafo for promoting education in the area. Nana Awuah has for the past 10 years offered free accommodation for about 12 teachers at the village. Mr. Agyeman-Badu thanked the chief for his kindness and his love for the teachers and described Nana Awuah as a good and leader. The Education Director was interacting with the chief at Pinihe on Monday.

He called on teachers serving in the area to give their best to improve the performance of students. The regent expressed his desire to ensure that the youth were encouraged to take education seriously "since education is the bedrock of every nation's development". He recalled that in 1974 he single-handedly tarred the streets of the town and also provided electricity power. Nana Awuah donated 1.7 million cedis towards the purchase of 20 mono desks to the Roman Catholic Primary School in support of the USAID/QUIPS School project.

Meanwhile, Nkoranza District Education Directorate and the District Assembly have agreed to commend Nana Awuah during the celebration of the District Teachers Award Day which would soon take place at Nkoranza.
