Education Ministry 'begs' for 400 suspended students

Education Ministry is asking authorities at the Kumasi Girls Senior high school to rescind their decision of suspending some 400 final year students, XYZ News can report.

The girls were suspended for bad conduct.

School authorities say they left the school without permission for the Easter festivities.

The Regional Students Representatives’ Council of Senior High Schools has raised eyebrows over the suspension and wants a probe into the incident.

Paul Krampah, the Director of Public Affairs at the Education Ministry, in an interview with XYZ News said although it supports any disciplinary action against the students, suspending them ahead of their final exams will be counterproductive.

“I have pleaded with her [headmistress] that she should allow them get back to school and then whatever punishment there is meted out to them… I would appeal to the headmistress to reconsider her decision,” he said.
