Education Ministry dismisses reports over CAL Bank’s GH¢85m facility

The Ministry of Education says it is ready to account for the GH¢85 million facility from CAL Bank to construct two-storey dormitories and six-unit classroom blocks in senior high schools, in contrast to recent media reports.

“We wish to state for the records that we have not failed to account for the facility neither are we refusing to do so,” the Ministry said in a statement released on Friday, March 21.

It asserted that the money was not even lodged with the Ministry.

The statement, signed by Paul Kofi Krampah, the Director of Public Relations at the Ministry, said the matter came up in Parliament just to ambush the Deputy Minister of Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and “when given proper notice, we will furnish Parliament with the full records.”

“We wish to assure the good people of Ghana that the Ministry of Education is ready to fully account to Parliament when invited.”
