Mpraeso (E/R), March 30, GNA - A 100-million-cedi Dankwa Educational Endowment Fund (DEEF) had been launched at Mpraeso in the Kwahu South District on Monday to support the education of needy but brilliant children to high levels.

The launching ceremony, which also commemorated the first anniversary of the death the late Alfred Yaw Dankwa, a prominent businessman, had 80 million cedis seed money from his children and 20 million cedis from the Obuoba FM station at Nkawkaw.

The Fund is to be administered by a three-member Board of Governors comprising a representative each of the children of the late Dankwa, the District Education Directorate and the Obuoba FM station.

Launching the Fund, the General Manager of the Obuoba FM, Mr Nyama Boadi said it would initially cater for needy but brilliant children in the Kwahu District before later extended it to children in other parts of the country.

He appealed to benevolent organizations and individuals in the area to donate generously towards the Fund to benefit many targeted children. Among those present at the ceremony included officials of the Kwahu South District Assembly, educationists and the bereaved family members. The late Dankwa, who died last March at the age of 78, had a chain of stores at Koforidua, Nkawkaw among other towns.
