Educationist calls on Assembly to renovate school block

Fiaso (B/A) July 12, GNA - Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, acting Techiman Municipal Director of Education has called on the Municipal Assembly to renovate school blocks to ensure that the eye sight of pupils and students are not affected.

He observed that the mouldings of the blocks made the classrooms dark and this could affect the sight of the pupils and students, saying they must be replaced with wooden windows.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu made the call when he led Mr. Twi Yeboah, Presiding Member of the Assembly to inspect the local Junior Secondary School block at Fiaso, where the mouldings do not allow adequate light into the classrooms.

He complained of similar problems in Nkoranza and advised that schools with such facility be renovated, adding that Nkoranza Methodist JSS had recently benefited from the new plan.

Mr. Agyemang-Badu, substantive Nkoranza District Director of Education expressed concern about congestion in the classrooms of the Fiaso school as a result of increasing the number of pupils and students.

At the local Kindergarten, there are 100 pupils in KG 1 and 74 in KG 2 and the two classrooms are full of tables and chairs, leaving small spaces for the teachers. Listening to a complaint from Miss Grace Ayiso, head teacher of the kindergarten that the teachers have had to stand on tables to write on the blackboards, Mr. Agyemang-Badu appealed to Assembly to help provide additional blocks.

Mr. Twi-Yeboah promised to convey the matter to the Assembly for action to be taken to remedy the situation.

Mr. Seth Asah-Adjei, circuit supervisor of Techiman East Circuit called on the people to offer communal labour to support the school project.
