Edumadze loses primaries

Ajumako-Ochiso (C/R) May 26, GNA- Mr. William Kow Arthur Baiden, Cape Coast Metropolitan Town Planning Officer was on Sunday elected the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the December general elections.

He obtained 62 votes of the total votes of 112 to beat the two other contestants, the incumbent Member of Parliament Mr. Isaac E. Edumadze and Mr. Francis Acquaye, a lawyer in the party's primaries held at Ajumako-Ochiso.

Mr. Edumadze, who has been the MP for the area since 1996, had 45 votes while Mr Acquaye got five votes.

The election was conducted by the officials from the Electoral Commission and supervised by regional executives of the party.

Mr. Edumadze and Mr. Acquaye pledged their support to Mr. Baiden and the party towards maintaining the seat.

Mr. Acquaye, in his acceptance speech thanked the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and called for their support, cooperation and hard work for the party to win the elections. The Central Regional chairman of the party, Mr. Dankwa Smith said now that the primaries were over the people should come together and campaign vigorously for the party to maintain the seat. He urged the members to avoid using abusive and indecent language during their campaign in order not to inflame passions.
