Accra, May 23, GNA - The Very Reverend Joseph M.Y. Edusa-Eyison, Associate Chaplain of the Ghana Police Church, was on Sunday inducted into office as the General Director of Board of Ministries of the Methodist Church of Ghana.
Preaching the sermon at the induction service, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, the Most Reverend Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah stressed the need for the church to take its evangelisation mission seriously.
He said the Church should go out and bring people to the living faith in Christ adding that the Church was one of the greatest instruments for changing individuals.
Most Rev Aboagye-Mensah said the Church should devote much of its time to teaching, pointing out that the Word of God must be read, interpreted and taught under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
He said the Church must exude love and show fellowship in the common faith in the Risen Christ and worship God in sincerity, adding that this would bring in its trail joy.
The Very Rev Edusa-Eyison was born in 1950 at Essikado, Sekondi in the Western Region of Ghana and attended Nsein and Oda Secondary Schools before entering the University of Ghana, Legon for his first degree.
He obtained the Post Graduate Diploma in Pastoral Studies from the Trinity Theological Seminary in 1986 and was commissioned as Minister of the Gospel in the Methodist Church, Ghana. He also obtained the Master of Philosophy Degree from the University of Ghana and currently he is at the final stages of obtaining a Doctorate Degree from the University of Natal, Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.
The Very Rev Edusa-Eyison, who has served in various capacities in the Church and is a Member of a number of Professional Associations including The Ecumenical Association of the Third World, is married with three children.
The Board of Ministries is responsible for all matters relating to ordained ministries including candidature; training; reception into Full Connexion, continuing education and welfare of Ministers.
It is also responsible for lay Ministries including the work of Stewards, Local Preachers, Class Leaders, Adult and Intergenerational Organisations and the Lay Movement as well as directing and coordinating Evangelism, Mission and Renewal and Christian Education work in the Church.
