Effutu Traditional Council Commends Government

Winneba (C/R), Nov. 3, GNA-The Effutu Traditional Council (ETC) has commended President J. A. Kofour and the NPP Government for elevating Effutu from district to Municipal status with Winneba as its capital. In a statement signed by the President of the Council Neenyi Ghartey VII, Omanhene of the Effutu Traditional Area, the council stated 'We the members of the Effutu Traditional Council and the entire citizens of the Traditional set up, wish to express our heartfelt appreciation to the President and the Government for this great honour'. 'Our prayer and hope is that public servants as well as residents of the new municipality will work selflessly to justify the purpose for the new grade accorded Effutus to ensure full realization of the Government's decentralization programme. Speaking to the press later, Neenyi Ghartey advised all eligible tax payers in the area to ensure that they honour their tax obligations in good time to supplement whatever seed money government would provide for the development of the area.

He appealed to all Divisional and Sub-Chiefs in the Traditional Area to educate their subjects on the importance of tax payment, stressing that it is only their own efforts that the new municipality could live up to expectation.

Neenyi Ghartey reminded his people of the need to maintain a high standard environmental and domestic hygiene befitting their municipal status all the time.

He charged community leaders and assembly members in the municipality to organize regular cleaning up activities to keep the municipal tidy and safe from preventable diseases.
