Accra, July 15, GNA - Mr Ayikoi Otoo, Minister of Justice and Attorney - General on Friday cut the sod for work to begin on a 12-storey modern office building for the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General's Department.
The project to cost about eight million dollars is sited at the premises of the Legal Aid Board in Accra and it will take about 30 months to complete and it would be known as Law House to accommodate the various departments under the Ministry to make them easily accessible to all and sundry.
Currently, the offices of the various departments under the Ministry are located in other Ministries and departments not related to the sector.
Mr Otoo said the problems facing the Ministry were not restricted only to poor conditions of service but accommodation both residential and offices.
He said Attorneys that were expected to have an office space to work in comfort were paired in rooms leading to loss of privacy. He tasked the contractors and the consultants to adopt the project, which may outshine the recently inaugurated commercial court, as their own and to give off their best. The Legal Aid Board mooted the project in 1996. Todorovic-Letica Dragica, Managing Director of the Energoproject Group, said her company was grateful for being awarded the contract and he promised to complete the job on schedule.
