Elder Tobbin wins Anyaa-Sowutuom seat for NPP

Elder Emmanuel Tobbin, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency, has been declared the winner after a keenly contested race.

Elder Tobbin polled 42, 790 of the total valid votes cast to defeat his main competitor, Mr. Emmanuel Allotey Adotey, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who secured 37,984 votes.

The total valid votes cast was 80,774 while 491 ballots were rejected.

It was the smallest margin of victory for the NPP in the Anyaa-Sowutom Constituency, having won the 2020 Parliamentary election with a victory margin of over 30,000 votes.

Meanwhile, in the Presidential race, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia polled 40,854 votes while John Mahama garnered 38,433 votes.

The Anyaa-Sowutuom Constituency in the Ga Central Municipality boasts 54 communities, 13 electoral areas and 300 polling stations.

Carved out of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency in 2012, Anyaa-Sowutuom has been won by the NPP in both the Parliamentary and Presidential elections.
