Ghana’s Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, has underscored the need for Ghanaians to elect a leader capable of transforming the country and driving its development forward.
She emphasised that the nation’s progress hinges on choosing the right leader in the upcoming December elections.
The Second Lady expressed confidence in her husband, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, stating that he possesses the qualities needed to address Ghana’s economic challenges.
Highlighting the role of digitalisation in fostering efficiency and combating corruption, she described it as a vital step toward the country’s transformation.
Samira Bawumia made these remarks on Monday, 18 November 2024, at a book launch organised under her "Samira Bawumia Literacy Prize" initiative in Accra.
“We need someone who will leapfrog Ghana’s development and look beyond where we are at and to say ‘look, we can do better and we can do it in a faster way to get to where we are going’ and if you see his digitisation drive, we are now in a position where the economy is expanding beyond where we would have.
“But for some of these digital platforms that have been put in place, we are creating efficiency, and eliminating corruption. We have a long way to go as a country but we need the right kind of leader to help us to get there quickly and I think Bawumia is the man for that,” she noted.
The Second Lady also elaborated on how a potential Dr. Bawumia administration would benefit the youth, particularly through his innovative ideas and initiatives aimed at their empowerment.
“He has the solutions to our problems. Dr Bawumia is a very intelligent, honest and hardworking man who applies himself. This is a man bursting with ideas and doesn’t do the same thing expecting different results. He is always thinking outside the box and I think for us as young people, that is the kind of leadership we need,” she said.
