Election 2020: Mahama doesn't have any meaningful message for Ghanaians - Nana B

National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye has described as a disappointment the inability of former President John Dramani Mahama to mention one campaign message at least prior to next year's 2020 general elections.

According to him, since former President John Mahama was elected as the Presidential Candidate for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), he is yet to come up with any campaign message that will compel public discourse as President Akufo-Addo did when he was in opposition.

“I am very disappointed in former President Mahama as the Flagbearer of the main opposition NDC, because it has been a year since he was elected as the Presidential Candidate of the NDC and yet he has not come up with any campaign message,” he jabbed.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Nana B as he is affectionately called slammed as 'shameful' for the former President to rather base his campaign message on the rise of the dollar.

“Is he saying that the country is retrogressing due to the fact that we have come to restore the teacher training and nursing training allowances? Is the country retrogressing due to the fact that the country is no longer experiencing power outages as we experienced for more than 4 years . . . where people’s businesses collapsed and many lives perished?”, he quizzed.

To him, former President Mahama should rather come up with a campaign message for the 2020 elections for serious debate as Nana Addo as opposition leader did.

“Whenever he mentioned one-district-one-factory, the whole country discussed it; when he mentioned one-village-one-dam project, it also attracted public discourse and the Free SHS Policy never departed from the lips of Ghanaians”.

“The following policies; planting for food and jobs, Zongo development fund, and creation of additional regions attracted public comments, and so if former President Mahama says that the country has moved backward from where he left office, then he is not been truthful . . . President Akufo-Addo and his Vice President, Dr. Bawumia who heads the Economic Management Team has moved the country from the IMF Conditionality and the economy is growing,” he reiterated.

He emphasized that President Akufo-Addo’s political will and his leadership skill shown in the over a decade conflict in some part of the northern region has brought absolute peace in the north, earning him the nickname “Abudani”.

"For the first time in the history of Ghana, we celebrated the independence anniversary of Ghana in the Northern region. We have introduced Northern Development Fund and go and see what the fund is doing in the Northern Region. We are constructing the one-village-one-dam, market facilities in many constituencies, institutional toilet facilities in many constituencies and mechanized water system at many places,” he added.

He, however, expressed the shock that the former President will look in the face of these facts of progress and still conclude that the country is retrogressing under President Akufo-Addo as compared to the state of the economy under his watch.
