The New Patriotic Party (NPP) United Kingdom branch, in collaboration with the Young Executives Forum (YEF), UK, has successfully raised approximately £1.2 million in support of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's presidential campaign for the 2024 general elections.

The amount comprising cash and pledges was realised at a fundraising dinner dance, which took place on Saturday, 22 June 2024, at the Landmark Hotel in Central London.

According to Asaaseradio.com, the amount is the highest raised by the NPP-UK and YEF for the party’s presidential campaign.

The NPP-UK and YEF had previously raised about $150,000.00 for the Akufo-Addo campaign in 2016, contributing to the party's victory. In 2020, their efforts yielded $450,000.00, once again aiding in the party's electoral success.

During the fundraiser, Dr Bawumia expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the NPP-UK and YEF for their unwavering support. He reaffirmed his commitment to leading a vigorous campaign, aiming to secure a historic win for the NPP, often referred to as "breaking the 8."

Dr Bawumia emphasized his goal of fostering a mindset of possibilities among Ghanaians, moving away from the prevailing attitude of impossibilities.

He reported that the initial phase of his campaign had been impactful, and he plans to intensify his efforts as the election draws nearer.

“The campaign has started in earnest. We have done a tour of the 16 regions, and we just finished with Ashanti. I would like to thank the Ashanti regional chairman and all the campaign team in Ashanti for the massive show of force that everybody saw when we got there,” Dr Mahamudu Bawumia remarked.

“I think going through the 16 regions, it is clear that the narrative is changing. There were people who, six months ago, did not believe that the NPP was going to win the 2024 elections, but I think that after talking about our record and talking about our vision for this country, minds have changed dramatically and NPP is in the position to win the 2024 elections.

“We are not going to be complacent. We are just beginning. This first tour of the 16 regions is the first gear of the campaign. We are going to go into the second gear in July, the third and fourth gear by November, and I believe at every stage, we are going to up the ante,” Dr Bawumia remarked.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Frimpong Koduah, conveyed the party's deep appreciation to the NPP-UK for its longstanding contributions.

He highlighted the critical nature of the 2024 elections, stressing the importance of choosing a candidate like Dr Bawumia, who is eligible for two terms and thus more accountable to the electorate.

Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, chairman of the NPP-UK branch, assured Dr Bawumia of the branch's steadfast support.

He praised Dr Bawumia's significant contributions as Vice President, particularly his involvement in over 30 policies that have begun to transform Ghana's socio-economic landscape.

Bennard Owusu, Chairman of the YEF, also extended his gratitude to the Vice President for his presence at the event. He assured Dr Bawumia of the YEF's full support in the upcoming elections, reflecting the collective commitment to see Dr Bawumia ascend to the presidency and lead Ghana towards a prosperous future.
