The Member of Parliament for Ejura-Sekyeredumasi constituency in the Ashanti Region, Muhammed Bawa Braimah, has stated unequivocally that the NDC will not repeat the 2012 electoral mistake that resulted in the seat slipping through their fingers, allowing their opponent, the NPP, to take it.
According to him, the NDC is focused, united, and ready to win the presidential and parliamentary elections in December 2024.
Speaking at a ceremony to present a farming tractor to accident victims at Mfrante community, the former Municipal Chief Executive for Ejura maintained that the NDC has done a lot for the people and that it is time for the community to appreciate them with their votes.
Bawa Braimah, however, described the opposition NPP and its parliamentary candidate as nation-wreckers because of their selfishness and inward-looking attitudes.
He stressed that giving the NPP another opportunity to rule Ghana would set the clock of national development backward and that it would be disappointing for Ghanaians to vote for the NPP in the 2024 election.
Defending his stake as a parliamentary aspirant, Bawa Braimah claimed he has helped improve the standard of education in the area, as evidenced by several awards he received in that regard.
As a leader, he used his office to sponsor most activities to encourage pupils to learn and uplift the educational standard in the area.
Alhaji Bawa served as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejura Sekyedumase between 2013 and January 2017. During that period, he collaborated with some NGOs to organise holiday classes in English Language, Science, Mathematics, and Information Communication Technology for the students and pupils in the Ejura-Sekyeredumasi municipality.
As the MCE (2013–January 2017), Alhaji Bawa prioritised education delivery in the assembly’s medium-term development plan, resulting in the improvement of educational infrastructure in the municipality.
The former MCE, as part of his development agenda, had procured 500 dual desks and 20,000 exercise books for schools in the constituency and had also been organising mock exams for junior high school candidates and extra classes for students in senior high school.
Alhaji Bawa also single-handedly funded the construction of a three-unit classroom block for the Somdania Islamic School from his share of the District Assembly Common Fund.
