Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed for the support of the people of Nanung in the pending December elections, citinewsroom.com reports.
He highlighted his potential to serve for eight years, contrasting this with former President John Dramani Mahama, who can only serve for another four years.
Dr. Bawumia encouraged the people to give him a chance to be president, assuring them that if he fails to deliver, they can reject him when he attempts a second term.
“I am the Vice President; I’ve not been president yet and I want to plead with you, I am going to the contest with my senior John Mahama, he has been president before, and when he comes, he has only four years.
“When I come, I have eight years, so, if you look at the presidency, do we want four years or eight? After four years, he won’t come but I will come for renewal, so please give me the chance, so that I can be accountable,” citinewsroom.com quoted him as having said.
The vice president made these remarks during his campaign tour at Bimbilla, in the Northern Region.
The regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinbolgu Naa Dassana Andani Yakubu, also expressed his unwavering support for Dr. Bawumia, citing the positive developments brought by the NPP government to the constituency.
Nyelinbolgu Naa Dassana Andani Yakubu expressed hopes that, if elected, Dr. Bawumia will focus on establishing a health institution, upgrading the Bimbilla Municipal Hospital, providing a university, and enhancing the water supply for Nanung.
