The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, has said the party will have to put in massive work before it secures victory in the December 7 general elections.

The former Minister of Information, addressing a gathering of party faithful, urged them not to take things for granted, as the party securing victory in the highly-staked election will not be a walk in the park.

"This election is going to be one of the most difficult elections for us. So, nobody should take things for granted. This is going to be the biggest fight of our lives. Why do I say so? The last election we fought against Akufo-Addo who is not from anywhere near here. Look at the margin by which we beat him in the north. This time, we are facing Bawumia who is our neighbour. So, the fight that we put up in the last election, this election, we need to put up double of the fight that we put up in the last election. So, nobody should take things for granted," the Harvard Law school trained legal practitioner stated.

The December 7 general elections promises to be keenly contested among the governing New Patriotic Party (NDC) and the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

While the NPP is poised to extend its time in power by breaking the 8-year governance cycle by a political party in Ghana, the NDC on the other hand is confident of wrestling power from the NPP, as it is not works hard not to continue to stay in opposition for 12 straight years.

At the recent balloting held for political parties and independent aspirants, the NPP picked the Number One slot, while the NDC picked the 8th position on the ballot paper.
