Mr. Wilfred Neneh Addico Mr. Wilfred Neneh Addico

Mr. Wilfred Neneh Addico, the newly appointed Advisory Partner of Makers and Partners (MAP), a chartered accountancy firm, has urged businesses in the country to embrace existing opportunities in the carbon market to expand their profit margins.

Ghana’s commendable efforts in this area have yielded significant results. According to the World Bank, the country earned $4.8 million by reducing almost 1 million tons of carbon emissions resulting from deforestation and forest degradation in 2023. It is projected that by the end of 2024, these efforts may yield up to $45 million in revenue.

He mentioned that these markets underscore the importance of both individual and collective efforts in achieving a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.

Mr. Addico gave the advice on the sidelines of his new appointment as MAP’s Advisory Partner in charge of Governance and Risk Advisory Services. His appointment took effect on May 13, 2024, and he will lead the firm’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), Carbon Trading, Forensic Investigations, Cybersecurity, and Technology Audits service lines.

Neneh Addico, a management consulting expert, stands out as an affable and solution-focused individual who brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the MAP team. With over 21 years of experience in advisory services, his experience spans the Telecom, Banking, Health, Insurance, and Agriculture sectors. He has conducted advisory engagements for large multinationals in Ghana, Congo, Ivory Coast, and Liberia markets.

Prior to MAP, he was the team lead for Forensic Advisory at MTN Ghana, where he led engagements that significantly contributed to the development of policies, processes, and procedures (PPPs), securing systems, and overall improvement of the control environment to prevent fraud, abuse, and misconduct. His efforts also contributed to building a sound ethical culture in the organization, ensuring MTN remained sustainable and profitable.

Before joining MTN, Wilfred worked with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Westminster Primary Care Trust in London, United Kingdom, and Discoverytel Ghana Ltd. Neneh Addico also served as Team Lead for Assets Verification and Validation for the Kpong Irrigation Scheme as part of a post-implementation review for the rehabilitation and modernization of the Kpong Irrigation Scheme, a World Bank-funded project through the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and implemented by the Ghana Commercial Agriculture Project (GCAP).

He currently serves on the Ethics Committee of the Ghana Football Association.

Wilfred is a product of the University of Ghana Business School and Leicester University in the United Kingdom. He is also a member of several reputable organizations, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), and ISACA, an international professional association focusing on Information System Auditing, Risk Management, and Governance.

MAP’s vision is to provide a world-class customer service experience in Auditing, Accounting, Business Advisory, and Tax Advisory in Ghana and the Sub-Region.
