Emmnarg Groupe Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) has through its ‘Widow's Smile Project’ donated assorted items to widows and the aged in the Shai Osudoku District of The Greater Accra Region.
The donation of the items and cash amounts on Monday, December 23, 2019 was in the light of the Christmas festivities where the group led by its Executive Director, Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh presented the items to the 21 widows at a colourful ceremony at the Mount Zion Presbyterian church at Dodowa to spend the day and donate to the widows who have lost their husbands years ago.
Items donated included bags of rice, canned fish, cooking oil, bottles of soft drinks and some money, according to Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh, were to assist the less privileged widows in society particularly during the yuletide festivities.
“As a foundation and an NGO, we believe everybody must enjoy this Christmas so that as we celebrate in our homes, so must we share with our mothers, the widows and the aged,” said CEO of the group, Mr. Emmanuel Nargeh in an interview. “This is to put a smile on their faces because most of them are old and they would have smiled if their husbands were alive.”
The CEO who likened the NGO to the husbands of the widows saw the gesture as reminiscent of the love the women would have enjoyed from their husbands were they to be alive.
