The family of the 31-year-old miner Kwame Agyemang, shot dead by anti-illegal mining taskforce, Operation Vanguard at Obuasi-Wawase in the Ashanti Region wants siblings of the deceased employed by government as compensation

“I want my two children who are graduates from Junior High School to be employed by the government” mother of the deceased, Madam Afia Antwiwaah appealed.

The young energetic illegal miner, Kwame Agyemang met his untimely death while he was engaging in illegal mining despite the ban on illegal mining activities by Ministry of Lands and Natural resources.

“My son was my bread winner but now he is no more alive. I can also not work to fend for myself because I have waist pain”, she revealed on Kumasi-based Abusua FM.

“The government should consider my problem and give jobs to my two children to enable them take care of me and themselves,” he told host of Abusua Nkommo, Kwame Adinkra.

Asked what she wants the government to do to improve her current living condition apart from employment for the deceased siblings, Madam Afia Antwiwaah wished the state absorbed funeral expenses of Kwame Agyemang

“I am not selling my son but if the government could take his funeral expenses and give me any amount of money to also start a business, I will be most grateful to President Akufo-Addo,” she stated
