Management and staff of FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital last week, announced an amount of GHC 60,000, as funds raised through their internal fundraising campaign themed, the “charity begins at home campaign”, at their Facility in Pantang.
Launched in May, 2018, by the Development team at FOCOS, the campaign was geared towards supporting the mother Foundation, Foundation of Orthopaedic and Complex Spine (FOCOS), out of which the hospital was established.
About the campaign
The “charity begins at home” campaign was in four phases, namely: the general appeal for funds, the game night, solicitation challenge and the “Grill in the park”.
Management and staff were asked to make voluntary donations to the Foundation in the first phase. Subsequently, the Development team organized a night of in-door games where Management and Staff were asked to register to compete with each other for prizes, at a fee. The third event, saw staff and Management voluntarily going out to solicit for funds outside the organization. The campaign was crowned with a live auction of paintings at a cocktail event held at the hospital.
Speaking at the final event, Founder and President of the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine, Prof.Oheneba Boachie-Adjei commended the efforts of Management and staff of FOCOS for coming together to make a historical contribution in the foundation’s history.
In his address, the CEO commended Management and staff for their hard work and collective conscience in coming together to raise funds for FOCOS. He further stressed on the need to for them to work in unison for the greater good of the organization.
“It takes a lot of work and dedication to deliver your best, we are all standing here because of the gardeners, the lights are bright because of the electricians, the barbeque is nice because of kitchen; not the Surgeons. We can always do better to uphold the brand we have built and are trying to build into the future,” the Founder and President Prof Boachie-Adjei informed Management and staff about the ongoing preparations for an MRI machine and solar power at the hospital as well as other initiatives the Foundation was planning to embark on.
Though some members of Management and staff, have individually supported the Foundation, this is the first time they have collectively come together to support their “own”. In attendance were members of Management like: the Associate Medical Director, Dr.Joseph Ogyaadu, the Director of Medical Services, Dr.Gerhard Ofori-Amankwah, the Chief Development Officer, Dr.Mawuli Coffie, the Director of Nursing, Madam Mavis Kwarteng, the Administrative Manager, Vivian Quarshie-Kumasa as well as other members of staff.
Also in attendance were some celebrity friends of the Foundation like renowned Ghanaian actress, radio/ TV broadcaster, Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku and upcoming Ghanaian Poet, Edem Amuzu. The event will be held annually in subsequent years.
