Chief Executive Officer of Employers Association, Alex Frimpong has patted the back of Senyo Hosi who said he wouldn’t hire MBA graduates from the University of Ghana because they lack relevant skills.

Confirming the statement on Joy News’ PM Express Wednesday, Mr Frimpong stated that graduates from the universities lack analytical skills which makes them unproductive in their field of work.

He added that the graduates also lack basic IT Skills, and are equally not creative and innovative. According to him, his outfit has conducted a survey on graduates which reveals that many Ghanaian university graduates lack 'analytical skills', an essential requirement employers look out for.

Alex Frimpong further said employers have complained to him about having to train graduates they employ so they can fit into the industrial space.

Speaking on the topic ‘University education in Ghana, fit for purpose’, the CEO stated that “the students that are coming from the universities lack analytical skills. creativity, communication skills, IT… these are issues that employers have concerns with regarding the students and these are areas that we think collaboration with the tertiary institutions comes in handy.”

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors, Senyo Hosi still stands by his statement he made during the 70th anniversary of the University that he wouldn’t employ any graduate from the University because they are substandard.

Making reference to what he said earlier, he said, “I have three degrees; all from the University of Ghana. I won’t hire anybody [from UG], it’s simple. And it’s a matter of substance: what do you churn out? “You are churning out people with degrees, not people with an education, not people with skills on how to live; that is the problem”.
