Energy Commission Gets New Management

May 11 2005 (Chronicle) -- Acting Chairman of the Energy Commission, Prof. A. K. Addae is the new head of the commission?s interim management team.

The four-member interim management team is to oversee the affairs of the Commission as Dr. Ofosu-Ahenkorah who has been named as new acting Executive Secretary of the commission was due to travel abroad last night.

Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. K.T. Hammond who introduced Dr. A. K. Ofosu-Ahenkorah, to the staff of the commission on Tuesday appealed to the staff to cooperate with the new management team, until the return of Dr. Ofosu-Ahenkorah sometime next week for full restructuring of the place to start.

The three other members of the team are, Mr. Francis Gbeddy, Chief, Power Division, Mr. Isaac Tagoe, Chief, Petroleum Division, and Mr. Isaac Mintah, Chief, Human Resource.

Meanwhile, staff members have been requested to submit their Curriculum Vitae (CVs) and certificates, as well as their job schedules.

This request is believe is likely to send some employees of the commission with unimpressive certificates and CVs away.

Ex executive secretary of the commission, Mr. Kofi Asante was ordered by the energy minister, Mike Ocquaye to step aside for investigations to be conducted into allegations following very serious allegations that border on abuse of power and mismanagement of resources leveled against him.

The directive also asked the commission chairman, the Mamponghene, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, to step aside.

He had received a new Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle, purchased with the commission?s funds, for his personal use, while some technical staff lacked vehicles to undertake official assignments.
