Accra, 23 Oct. GNA - Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, Minister of Energy, is in London to participate in the launch of the Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEP) at the invitation of the British Government.
A statement issued in Accra on Thursday by the British High Commission, said the Minister's invitation was in recognition of Ghana's role in organising a regional workshop for other West African Countries, which were keen to take action on renewable and energy efficiency initiatives in June, this year.
It said, the REEP programme formed part of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office's international effort to combat climate change and foster through dialogue the plan on energy security for Africa from the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
The statement said, "the REEP brings together governments, business and other stakeholders with the aim of fostering international collaboration to accelerate the market growth of modern renewable and energy efficiency technologies.
Its objectives are to help in the removal of technical, market and regulatory barriers to their development and to lower their costs so that they become affordable energy options.
"Through the REEP, partners will share knowledge, communicate across national boundaries and work to spread best practice in order to overcome the barrier to the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency".
REEP would help its partners to achieve a sustainable energy in the future.
