Ensure sustainable use of vehicles - MCE

Akim Oda (E/R), Aug. 14, GNA - Mr Frank Marcellus Kwame Busumtwi, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central Municipal Assembly, has advised managements of second cycle and tertiary institutions to put in place adequate measures to ensure the sustainable and efficient operation of their vehicles. He advised drivers handling school buses to take good care of the vehicles, so that the schools could derive the maximum benefit from them.

Mr Busumtwi gave the advice when he handed over the keys to a 33-seater Cruxap bus to the Saint Francis Senior High Technical Secondary School in Akim Oda in the Eastern Region. The bus was one of the consignments of six school buses that the government supplied to the Eastern Region. The MCE said the bus had been specially designed to suit tropical weather conditions and African roads to guarantee its durability. He stated that the government, in realizing the critical role education played in the national development agenda, provided the bus to the School to help facilitate and promote teaching and learning.

Mr Busumtwi advised the teaching and non-teaching staff to conduct themselves well so as to enhance productivity. The Headmaster of the school, Mr Dominic Acquah, received the keys and thanked the government for the bus, which he described as timely. Mr Acquah assured the MCE that the bus would not only be managed well to ensure its life span, but also used to promote education in the municipality and the country as a whole.
