The Esiama Divisional Police Command in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region is crying for help from the central government and other public-spirited individuals to beef up security in the area.
Esiama Divisional Police Command together with the Ellembelle District Police Command has been mandated to protect the country's oil and gas facilities in the Ellembelle enclave.
These facilities are; Ghana Gas Processing Plant at Atuabo, ENI gas at Sanzule and Quantum Gas at Anokyi.
Speaking to Daniel Kaku at the forecourt of the Divisional Command after a short ceremony organised to receive 100 bags of cement from the NPP's National Chairman Freddie Blay to support the Command to build a barrack, the Esiama Divisional Police Commander, Assistant Commission of Police, ACP Dodzi Hlodzi said apart from the barrack which has been started, the Command was facing with so many challenges.
He stated that the Command needs more personnel and a vehicle to enhance their work.
He said his men were same men who always provide for the Ghana Gas Processing Plant, ENI gas and Quantum Gas all in Ellembelle District.
ACP Dodzi Hlodzi underscored the need to protect these national assets to support the economy of this country.
"We have so many challenges and some of these are accommodation, man-power, our personnel here are not many so if they bring some to us like we will be happy, the Divisional Command too we don't have vehicle and if we get vehicle like we will be happy because we all know that Ellembelle is an oil enclave in Ghana right now, we have Ghana Gas Processing Plant, we have ENI Gas, we have Quantum Gas and these big companies are found in Ellembelle do there is the need to protect these oil facilities and they are all national assets so if we get more personnel and vehicles we can petrol and protect these national assets and other people", he bemoned.
The Esiama Divisional Police Command in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region is currently constructing a 10-million-Ghana-cedis accommodation facility for its personnel.
This facility is being constructed by the police themselves but they are therefore appealing to other benevolent organizations to support them to complete it on schedule.
The Divisional Commander took the opportunity to commend Freddie Blay for donating 100 bags of cement towards the construction of the barrack.
He said Freddie Blay promised them 400 bags of cement and he was optimistic that Freddie Blay would add the rest to it.
Public education on Coronavirus
ACP Dodzi Hlodzi said the Command was going to embark on sensitisation to educate the civilians to observe the preventive measures outlined by the Ghana Health Service and World Health Organization (WHO).
"We are going educate the civilians about this virus to observe social distancing protocols and also caution them not to organise parties at the various beaches in the Ellembelle District and let me say this we the police we are not interested in arresting anybody anyhow so we will first educate them about the preventive measures and if they flout it then we will take action", he said.
