The Essipong Sports Stadium and Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium have seen progress in their renovation works.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb, the Essipong stadium has recovered its lush green field with new roofing being laid.

According to the report, the seats will be changed and repainted as the National Sports Authority embarks on robust renovations.

The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, recently revealed that payments totalling GH¢32 million were made by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, to their cousin, Kelvin Ofori-Atta, for stadium rehabilitation in the country.

He noted in his report that the Essipong Stadium is one of the venues for which the funds have been released.

Regarding the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale, it has also undergone regrassing to bring the pitch to a standard level.

The stadium has not been used since Real Tamale United was relegated in the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League season.

At the moment, all national stadiums have been closed for rehabilitation after CAF deemed them all unfit to host Category 3 matches.

If any of the venues are not ready in time, Ghana will have to play the remaining home games in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations at a neutral venue.

Ghana will host Sudan in their next home game slated for October 7, 2024.
