The CEO of Stratcomm Africa, Esther Ambah Numaba Cobbah, has shared her journey of rising through the ranks to achieve her current status, making her name among the women who have made significant strides in the country.

Speaking exclusively on GhanaWeb TV’s The Lowdown with Etsey Atisu, Esther Cobbah highlighted the role her family background played in her decision to pursue a career in communication.

According to her, she has always wanted to make a positive impact on the lives of people in rural communities since her childhood.

“We lived in Sekondi, that was our base but we moved around and each time we were travelling from Sekondi to Komenda for instance I’d see all these rural communities and I’d wonder what could be done for them to live a different life. And being a postmaster’s daughter meant that when we were travelling, sometimes we travelled in the back of a mail van.

“…there was a post office in every community so we would stop and the mail van driver would deposit the letters which meant I saw a lot of communities. And sometimes I saw the deprivation, not that we had much but people lived in mud huts and all that,” she said.

Esther Cobbah added that she chose to study communication and literature, which helped her to appreciate and understand human nature.

“I always felt what would it take to work with them to have what would be a more comfortable life. At least in Sekondi we had stand pipes to go to but some of these people didn’t and in Komenda I carried my water from the well. I carried it from a water body called pooh pooh. I lived the life in Komenda and I always felt if I am able to advance in my education, I’d like to learn something that enables me to bring knowledge back to where I have come from.”

She continued “…that is what real communication is about and that is what I believe in. I saw my mother living it, she was a very loving person and so these have helped me to evolve my love for communication. This is what communication is….”
