The Progressive People’s Party(PPP) has described the demise of the former running mate of the party, Madam Eva Naa Merle Lokko’s as a painful loss to the PPP fold.
A statement released by the National Chairman of the PPP, Nii Allottey Brew-Hammond Friday expressed grief in the death of Lokko, asking members to suspend campaigning to observe a three day mourning period from Monday, October 10, 2016 until Thursday, October 13, 2016.
“The PPP learned with profound shock and dismay of Madam Eva Naa Merle Lokko’s demise late this Thursday afternoon. We express PPP’s heartfelt condolences to her husband, children, family, and well-wishers in this moment of grief, and pray her soul rests in perfect peace with the good Lord,” the statement added.
In addition, it indicated that the National Broadcast by the Flagbearer, Dr. Nduom to tell Ghanaians what to expect from a PPP Administration planned for Saturday October 8 has been postponed.
The statement further noted ” we will defer to and be guided by the deceased’s family wishes regarding all related communications and funeral services.”
Eva Lokko who was also the Klottey Korle parliamentary candidate for the PPP until his demise passed away in the United States of America on Thursday, October 6, 2016, where she had been flown for medical treatment.
Family sources revealed she had been sick for some time now before she passed away.
