Eva Lokko snubbed CPP for PPP

It has emerged that the vice presidential candidate of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) was slated to partner the Convention People's Party (CPP) candidate, Dr. Foster Abu Sakara, but had a change of mind on the eleventh-hour.

Though officials of the CPP have remained tight-lipped on the development, insiders say Ms. Lokko's last minute swerve has left the party's top-brass devastated.

The engineer and communication specialist was unveiled by the PPP's flag bearer Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom on Wednesday in Accra, as his running mate in the December elections.

Investigations have revealed that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the CPP would meet next week to deliberate on the way-forward.

Ms. Lokko's decision appears to have doused the vigorous campaign launched by Dr. Abu Sakara since taking over the flagbearship mantle of the CPP.

Dr. Nduom, who was the CPP's presidential candidate in the 2008 elections, severed ties with the party early this year to form the PPP after series of disagreements with the party hierarchy.

As a result, several followers of the CPP defected to the PPP.
