The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana has inducted its 13th Moderator Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Adigi, who is also the second Moderator of the General Assembly, last Sunday at a grand and colourful ceremony held at the Dela Cathedral at the church’s headquarter in Ho.
It drew people from both national and international communities and the branches of the church across the country.
The newly inducted Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian church, Ghana Rt. Rev. Dr. Seth Senyo Adigi pledged to mitigative policies that can enhance the age long financial stress on the church in order to motivate and sustain its membership and double it during his tenure.
He said for instance the pastors of the church receive unattractive allowances as low as two hundred cedis per month adding that this situation which does not commensurate current economic situation has led many of them leaving the church and about 60 percent working on part-time basis which is not helping the growth and the development strategy of the church.
He promised working out a fund management policy to resolve stressful financial issues affecting the development of the church. He said, the church will revisit the implementation of education and health programmes at its schools and health centres respectively in consultation with the various ministries.
He said most of the mission schools look dilapidated serving as a demoting factor on academic work which he will attend to immediately.
Dr. Agidi paid a glowing tribute to his predecessors and the entire congregation for their continuous support and dedication to the church.
The outgoing Moderator Very Rev. Dr. Amenu urged the congregation to give his successor similar support for the speedy growth of the church and advised him to diligently work hard to uplift the image of the church.
He later took him through the oath and other solemnisation rituals in the presence of the audience.
The 60-year-old, was commissioned as a pastor of the church in 1989 after completing a degree course in Theology from Trinity Theological College at University of Ghana, and proceeded to Eden Theological Seminary, United States of America for his Master and Doctorate. He serve as district Pastor at Peki in the Volta Region, Secondi Takoradi in the Western Region where he managed several branches with a track record of increasing membership and branches even to Ivory Coast.
Dr. Agidi also served as the principal of the E.P Theological Seminary-Peki, and many boards such as the E.P University Council, E. P Theological Seminary and member of international missionary organisations. He is also the founder and president of Shepherd Centre of the Aged, a non-governmental organisation affiliated to the church. He is a teacher by profession and married with four children. New pastors were inducted into office while chiefs and political figures graced the occasion.
