Evangelists should lead men to Christ - Achamfuor-Yeboah

Tema, Aug. 7, GNA - Right Reverend Samuel Achamfuor-Yeboah, Methodist Bishop of Tema, has reminded Evangelists that like Moses of old, they should lead men to Christ and also plant and nurture the church.

Bishop Achamfuor-Yeboah said this in a sermon to commission 10 Lay Evangelists of the Methodist Church at the Saint Paul Methodist Cathedral in Tema.

The service also climaxed activities marking the Connexional Evangelists Conference held by the Evangelism Mission and Renewal Division of the Methodist Church.

The four-day conference, which drew delegates from all the regions was under the theme: "Do the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry".

Rev. Achamfuor-Yeboah who preached on a sub-theme: "Jesus, the Bread of Life", reminded lay Evangelists of their special gift from God, and tasked them to ensure that hungry souls that yearned for the bread of life, accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour.

The Tema Methodist Bishop urged Christians to rededicate their lives to God through Christ because, saying, "we cannot find any satisfaction in this world of sin and woe without accepting Christ". He added: "That food which satisfies the human life is Jesus Christ, the only source of satisfaction, for he completely satisfies. Man needs to feed on Jesus day by day, for if we live in him, Christ will sustain and satisfy us now and forever."

The Most Rev. Dr. Robert Aboagye-Mensah, Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, who commissioned the Lay Evangelists, exhorted them to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit in the pursuit of their work.
