The annual Ewe Association’s Christmas dance took place at the Ukrainian Cultural Center, Chicago Illinois.

Though the turnout for this year's event was moderate, almost every affiliate organization of the Ghana National Council, GNC, was represented.

The Vice President of the GNC, Kassim Abukari who represented his boss, Paa Kwasi Sam in a short message, urged members of the Ghanaian Community to support the latest efforts of the GNC to acquire a community center (popularly known as Ghana House) for the community.

The president of the Ewe Association, Steve Dei, thanked attendees and called on the Ewe Association to conduct an early election next year.

“Dance to your fill” would be an appropriate description of the celebrations this year as the organizers kept to their promise and minimized the long speeches that used to characterize such events.

This allowed revellers time to dance without interruption far into the wee hours of the night. In their excitement, most of the attendees congratulated the organizers for a job well done.

DJ Odikro was superlative, as he dished out the best selections one could ask for. He kept the joyous crowd on their feet with agbadza, borborbor, highlife, reggae, old school and many more.

The four-course meal was mouthwatering as well as the “booze was freely flowing”. It was a great night worth talking about for a very long time.

Selassie Ayeke and Rita Tawiah Fiadzoe received awards for their dedication and service to the Ewe Association of Metropolitan Chicago.
