Ex-Convict allegedly murders again

Hohoe, Sept 2, GNA - An ex-convict, Frank Kwakyi, 35, who became more violent after allegedly clubbing Emmanuel Adasu to death, has been arrested by an Asafo group at his hide out. Kwakyi, a native of Akpafu-Todzi in the Hohoe Municipality, on August 14, this year, without provocation, attacked Adasu, a fellow native, with a pestle, hitting him severally on his head. Adasu, who was at the time milling rice with his niece, attempted to escape but tripped and fell giving the Kanyi the chance to knock him out of consciousness.

Kwakyi consequently fled into the forest, while Adasu was rushed to the Hohoe District Hospital but was pronounced dead in the night of August 15.

A search party of the Asafo group from the area, found Kwakyi in a thicket in the bush with a cutlass and a cudgel, threatening to attack his pursuers but they captured him after their shot in his right thigh overpowered him on August 16. Mr Daniel Ablordey, Hohoe District Police Commander, corroborating the story, said Kwakyi was responding to treatment and would be prosecuted soon.

Meanwhile, a family insider, pleading for anonymity, said Kwakyi is believed to be suffering from mental relapses. He had earlier on allegedly murdered a man and sentenced to prison, but was pardoned under Presidential Clemency.
