Ex-Police Inspector fined 10 million cedis for unlawful damage

Tema, Nov. 15, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'A' has imposed a fine of 10 million cedis or in default three years jail on an ex-Police Inspector for causing unlawful damage to a fence wall of a building. John Kofi Tse, who pleaded not guilty, was also ordered by the court to pay 25 million cedis being the estimated cost of damage.

Police Inspector Adolphus Otchere, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu that somewhere in 1991, the complainant sold one and half plots of land to the ex-Chief Inspector at Klagon, which he has developed.

He said the plots share common boundary with the complainant, who has erected a fence wall, adding, there has been a land dispute between the accused and the complainant, which is pending before the court.

Inspector Otchere said on August 1, 2002 at about 1330 hours, Tse was seen in the company of 12 people on the site belonging to the complainant and destroying the fence wall, by pulling the cement blocks to the ground in the presence of a witness.

He said a report was made to the police and the accused was arrested and after investigations he was charged with the offences of intentionally and unlawfully causing damage.
