Former President John Agyekum Kufour has said, although he has not been heard in public discussing NPP’s internal wrangling, his leadership has helped solved some ‘serious’ issues in the party.

According to him – it’s unhealthy to bring party issues into the media front when it can be solved internally and amicably.

“NPP has elders in the party. So if I arbitrate to solve issues I don’t have to make that pubic to the whole world to know. If an elderly does that, then he or she is rather collapsing the party. I have done my best. We all have different opinions but we can solve our differences,” he said.

His comment comes after many have questioned his leadership for keeping mute on the NPP's internal squabbling which has seen some party leaders suspended indefinitely - Mr Paul Afoko, Kwabena Agyepong and Sammy Crabb are all facing suspension.

In recent times, the party also issued a stern warning to Andrew Awuni to “shut up” on party issues or face their wrath by suspending him.

However, speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie', the former President noted that the ‘civil war’ in the NPP will daunt the party’s chances of winning the November 7 election if not addressed internally.

“Ghanaians hope to salvage them from this hardship is the NPP. So we must all come together and have one purpose by wining power to serve the nation. Responding to everything won’t help the party in anyway,” he said.

“NPP is ready to rule this country once again. Excessive talks in the media by some party leaders must stop,” Ex-President Kufour advised.
