Expired Condoms On market

…Users likely to suffer sores on organs

Story: Delight Ama Biaku

USERS OF condoms-both males and females-have been advised to be on the look out for the quality of the condom they use.

According to a recent Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) Weekly Health Watch, there abounds expired condoms on the Ghanaian market which cause severe skin irritation on the sex organs of both males and females.

The CPA cautioned users to go the extra mile in protecting themselves because the irritation on the sex organs eventually turns to sores which are very difficult to cure.

It asked the Ghanaian public to religiously check the expiry date on every condom before putting it into use. The CPA named China, Asia and Europe as origins of some of the affected condoms.

A condom is a barrier device most commonly used during sexual intercourse to reduce the probability of pregnancy and spreading sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s)- such as gonorrhea, syphilis and HIV. When expired, condoms cause a severe irritation to the sexual organs of both males and females, leading to severe itches, which finally lead to sores when scratched.

The sores, according to orthodox medical practitioner, become very difficult to cure due to the sensitive part they occupy and last for longer periods than treating normal sore.
