Extend mobile phone facilities to Adansi-East

New Edubiase (Ash), March 16, GNA- Mr Dominic Alfred Yeboah, Adansi East District Chief Executive, has appealed to operators of mobile phones, particularly Ghana Telecom and Spacefon to extend their operations to the Adansi East district.

He said presently, many workers who own mobile phones were refusing transfer to the district because they could not use their phones in the district.

Addressing the first meeting of the Adansi East district Assembly at New Edubiase, Mr Yeboah was also not happy about the communication network in the district and urged Ghana Telecom to ensure uninterrupted telecommunication system in the district. He announced that the assembly had purchased 250 low-tension electricity poles at the cost of 320 million cedis for a number of communities in the district.

The DCE said already a number of communities in the Asokwa constituency had been connected to the national grid under the Self-Help Electrification Programme (SHEP) through the efforts of Mr Kobina Tahiru Hammond, Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi-Asokwa.

Mr Yeboah said Mr Hammond, who is also Deputy Minister of Energy, had also promised to assist the other communities in the Adansi East district to be connected to the national grid.

He also asked the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to rehabilitate the existing water supply system to ensure the constant supply of water to New Edubiase.

Nana Kwaku Amoah, the presiding member of the assembly, entreated assembly members to educate their people to take the registration of voters exercise seriously.
