A Takoradi-based lady, Dawn Boateng has given a chilly account of how her friend got kidnapped but was saved by a miracle from the hand of her abductors who are ritualists, MyNewsGh.com reports
According to her, although her friend was successfully kidnapped, she did not qualify for the purpose for which she was abducted and therefore had to be left to go.
She revealed that Takoradi is no more a safe place to be considering the recent kidnapping issues in that part of the country.
Currently, three ladies have been reported missing and although the Police has been able to apprehend a suspect, they say he is not willing to talk.
Social media users have started a campaign to force the police to work extra harder to ensure that the perpetrators of the crimes are brought to book.

God save our city. Living in Takoradi no more feels safe as it used to be. My friend was kidnapped just last week Saturday evening. I’m still shaken as I type this. She said she stopped a taxi around Bankyease going to Queen of Peace, where she lives. 8pm was just a shy away. She said there were two men in the car, one in front and one at the back. So she sat in as we all will in a normal taxi with two normal people. They passed through I adu and hit the main road towards Queen of Peace. She said she only remembers the taxi moving until the junction that leads to Anaji Choice Mart, from there she doesn’t know what happened to her.
She suddenly found herself in a room with red lights and candles, then she saw a man who looked like he’d be in his fifty’s, with a beard, wearing a red dress with a white cross designed on it. They tied her hands, removed her dress, her shoes and told the men to put her down on some flat surface.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the man started asking the men,” Do you know her?” Where did you pick her from? He said “We can’t use her, we can’t use her” “Take her back exactly to where you picked her from, not even to the other room”. So they brought her back and left on the street. That was how her husband found her sitting on the bare floor on the roadside with her shoes beside her. Apparently, the men were using her phone to respond to her husband’s questions of her whereabouts all that while, posing as her (Whatsapp), they also tried to force her to respond to his phone calls when he called and when it finally didn’t work out, they whatsapped him where she’d be. She said she couldn’t speak or respond to her husband’s concerned questions when he got there, she was just starring at her husband, more like she wasn’t in the present and didn’t know what was happening.
I can’t narrate the after-trauma she’s been through and how she went dumb. Not that she was just quiet, and refused to talk, I mean when she tries to speak, the words do not come out, more like her tongue was cleaved to the top of her mouth. She had to write down in a book what happened to her.
When you hear of something like this happening to someone you don’t know, the feeling is different, you’re likely to only say Wow and be shocked or whisper a silent prayer for him/her. But to someone I know and love, it’s just crazy. I still can’t believe it. Through many prayers and by God’s grace she’s getting better and she can speak now.
Takoradi is no more safe. Don’t leave your safety to chance or think it cannot happen to you. If you have a choice to pick a Taxi or a Trotro, pick a Trotro. To a point, it’s much safer. It’s no more about comfort or whatever, but safety. My friend said they didn’t spray anything in the taxi or even touch her, she opened her eyes and saw herself in that room. How they did it , only God knows.
Church members, if possible, walk in pairs when it’s late in the evening, pick taxis in pairs. If you have to ask someone YOU KNOW for a lift after church, don’t be shy, ask! God also gave us wisdom.
Students! Especially the evening students of Takoradi Technical University and Ghana Telecom University and any other, please do not surrender yourself to be used. Take the above advice as much as possible. Don’t be alone in these dangerous areas. Avoid shortcuts and lonely streets.
Those of you who like going out in the night, just because it’s a weekend or you’ve closed from work so you want to go and chill at some place bi, those safe days are over. Chill with caution.
Parents, as much as possible, stop sending your children on errands when it’s dark. I personally remember being chased by some two men one evening many years ago. It’s not a pleasant experience. Coincidentally,it happened also around the junction of the Choice Mart. When you have to sit in a taxi alone or with strangers, always be vigilant and alert. Don’t lose guard, every taxi should be a suspect. Take note of the of car’s number and call someone and say it loudly on the phone. For example,” Hello John, I have picked a taxi from Bankyease, I’m going to Queen of Peace. The car’s number is St-0000-18?.
If you smell something funny, you can also add;
If anything happens to me or you don’t hear from me again in the next 10 minutes, I have texted you some details of the driver and the taxi”
It may sound funny or too extreme or someone may argue that it will not work, but anything that could have been done to help stay alive will not sound funny anymore if it wasn’t done. The people did not struggle with her in the taxi la, this one all your kunfu techniques or any defense mechanisms or objects you have on you may not work in this exact situation. Wisdom applies here.
And those of you who don’t take God seriously nu, some ritualist may find you very succulent.
Above all, let the Holy Spirit guide you in choosing a taxi or even a Trotro or where to walk or who to stop to pick up when driving. People are no more people.
Let’s be safe. Please share this to caution others too. May God deliver us.
