The Food and Drugs Authority has cautioned the general public against the patronage of canned Lucozade with batch numbers SEP 19 L4A and SEP 19 L4B over suspicion that it is unwholesome.
According to the FDA, it detained a consignment of canned Lucozade drinks upon suspicion that the expiry dates had been tampered with.
The Chief Executive Officer of the FDA, Delese Darko in a statement noted that, “the expiry dates of the canned Lucozade were being deliberately and fraudulently changed from September 2019 to September 2020.”
Prior to the detainment of the consignment, the FDA stated explicitly in the statement dated September 11, 2019, that it had followed up on a tip-off by a journalist
Two persons have consequently been accosted by the police and are assisting in the investigations.
