FDB Nabs Imposter

The task force of the Food and Drugs Board (FDB) last Tuesday arrested a 32 year old young man called Jeffrey Ashie who has been parading himself as a member of the FDB to defraud customers.

At a short press briefing at the FDB,s head office in Accra to hand over the suspected imposter to the police, the head of communications at the FDB, Mr. James Y Lartey said, they have earlier had some complaints about some unscrupulous people going around in the name of the FDB to harass and extort monies from some of their clients.

The young man who hails from Awoshie, a suburb of Accra is alleged to have been operating on the premise of contacting clients of the FDB whose registration processes were still on-going and promised to secure cover notes for them at a certain cost whiles they wait for the original certificate to come out.

Mr. Lartey said, acting upon a tip off this time around, young Jeffrey was arrested by the FDB’s task force at the point of delivering a fake cover note worth Gh¢ 700 to a herbal drugs dealer in order that he may start working whiles waiting for his original certificate to come out.

As of the time of filing this report yesterday, the head of communications in an interview with The New Crusading GUIDE indicated that young Jeffrey had mentioned some other names upon interrogations and the police are still investigating further into the matter.
