FDB monitoring activities of Eurofood

Accra, June 30, GNA --The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has instructed Eurofood Ghana Limited, which it closed down recently following media reports that it was using expired flour, to furnish it with the status of re-called and detained products.

A statement signed by Mr Emanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, Chief Executive of the Board, said this was part of measures taken by the Minister of Health in consultation with the Board on the matter. It said the products under recall had 06/07 as the batch number and assured the public that FDB would do everything possible to ensure public health and safety.

The statement said the Company operated on two lines - the biscuit line and the confectionery (Lollipop) line. It said the confectionary line had been opened to enable the Company to commence operations while the biscuits section remained closed.

It said FDB would supervise the discharge of any new consignment of flour and other raw materials into the Company's warehouse. The Board would further assist Eurofood to establish a total quality and safety management system to ensure product safety and quality.
