FDB retrieves drugs from the market

Kumasi, Jan. 11, GNA - The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has withdrawn quantities of drugs being offered for sale for alleged male sexual enhancement from the market.

The Board said the drugs including Bolishen tablets and capsules, Hero SXP tablets and ZY tablets had not been registered with it in accordance with PNDC Law 305 B.

The Board warned members of the public and pharmacy proprietors in Ashanti and Brong Ahafo to be wary of the drugs since their safety, quality and efficacy could not be guaranteed.

A statement from the zonal office of FDB signed by Mr Joseph Bennie, Zonal Officer of the Board indicated that Bolishen tablets and capsules, Hero SXP tablets and ZY tablets were being offered for male sexual enhancement and in some cases referred to as Chinese Viagra. It said preliminary investigations indicated that GEO-SYB Pharmacy at Dichemso and Tab Pharmacy at Asafo Market were distributing the drugs.

The statement advised all Pharmacies, which still had some of the products to send them to the zonal office of the Board or any of its offices.

The Board assured the public that it was taking the necessary steps within its statutory mandate to ensure public safety at all times. 11 Jan. 05
