FDB warns against consuming 'Our Lady Nsupa'

Kumasi, Nov 2, GNA - The Food and Drugs Board (FDB) has warned the public, especially residents of Ashanti and Brong-Ahafo regions and in particular residents of Wenchi not to drink 'Our Lady Nsupa' sachet water.

This is because, the product had been produced under unhygienic conditions, which fell short of the standard good manufacturing practices and good hygienic practices.

A press release issued by the zonal office of the FDB in Kumasi on Tuesday and signed by Mr Joseph Beniie, the zonal officer, said already the board had locked up the factory.

The release said the premises from which they are produced and the process of manufacture had not been approved by the Board as required by the Food and Drugs Law, 1992, PNDCL 305B.

The Board is consequently not in the position to guarantee the quality and safety of 'Our Lady Nsupa', it said.

In view of this, the release said, the Board wished to advice the consuming public to desist from patronising and consuming 'Our Lady Nsupa' being produced and marketed by F.O.F.I. Enterprise at Wenchi. The release assured the public that the FDB will do everything within its statutory mandate to ensure public safety in this regard and at all times.
