In November 2019, Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale threatened to end the career of young budding rapper Kweku Smoke after the latter accused him of stealing his song.

In a series of social media videos shared by the "Holy Ghost" hitmaker, Shatta Wale endorsed him, noting how he liked his works.

Kweku Smoke, in a series of videos, furiously explained that after the endorsement from the "Ayoo" hitmaker, he decided to pay him a visit to his home, but he (Shatta Wale) played a fast one on him.

"First of all, I know people will hate and insult me for my comment but I don’t care. Shatta Wale tweeted about me some time ago that he likes my talent.

“I respected the tweet, so I went to his house and played some of my records for him. I then played one of the songs I wanted to feature him on. He also gave me one of his songs to jump on, and I did it nicely and sent it back. But he didn’t put his verse on mine. Later, he tweaked my song and stole it.

“Please, I don’t want to sound disrespectful to others. I’m in my lane and I’ve always been. Only God knows why you wanted to sign me. What will you gain from stealing my songs?” he quizzed.

The rapper, after the accusations, explained how Shatta Wale sent thugs after him when he decided to settle their dispute amicably.

He included that the musician vandalised his car and also threatened to end his career.

"Shatta Wale would be surprised by what he did. He said he would kill my career. We would see whose career will die. Look at what he did to my car. You damaged my car because you are a coward. After all this, people won’t listen to what I am saying; they would blame me because I am saying the truth. Keep on promoting violence. Instead of him (Shatta Wale) teaching the youth what they should do, he is rather teaching them violence. Yet you people are supporting him," he said.
