The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has vehemently refuted allegations of wrongdoing by the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Godfred Dame, in the ongoing trial of the Minority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

At a counter press conference in Accra on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, the NPP stated that the audio tape recording presented by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) at an earlier press conference as evidence of Dame's misdeeds was doctored to make it appear as if the A-G was trying to collude with the third accused in the trial to get the Minority Leader jailed.

The Chairman of the Legal and Constitutional Committee of the NPP, Frank Davies, said that the NDC's accusation against Godfred Dame is part of the party's effort to stop him from prosecuting Ato Forson, who has clearly committed a crime.

He said that Dame would not resign as Attorney General as demanded by the NDC and would continue the prosecution of Dr. Ato Forson until justice is served.

The National Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has described the audio recording presented by the NDC as 'cut and paste evidence' meant to denigrate the image and hard-earned reputation of Godfred Dame.
