Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has stopped speaking about Ghana's economy because the economy has exposed him as nothing but a braggart, Bolgatanga Central MP Isaac Adongo has said.
Speaking about Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam's recent expression of confidence in the economy following the release of the third tranche by the International Monetary Fund, the opposition MP said in a Joy News interview that: "His [Minister’s] boss [Dr Bawumia] himself, having realised that, has run away from the economy."
"Dr. Bawumia has run away from the economy," Mr Adongo insisted, asking: "When was the last time you heard him talking about the economy?"
"Because the economy has given him a better beating now. If you are somebody who talks too much and brags, the economy will deal with you,” he added.
As far as Mr Adongo is concerned, attempts by Dr Bawumia, who is now the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, to distance himself from the Akufo-Addo administration's failure to grow the economy, will not succeed.
“What’s his record? He tells us that they’ve messed up and he will come and clean the mess. It means that you have failed as a government. You now think that we can isolate you from the government and give you power to come and do something better than your government?” Mr Adongo wondered.
