A twenty four (24) year-old fake police officer Emmanuel Opoku Agyemang has escaped death at Mbrom a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region after attempting to extort monies from drivers.

The suspect Emmanuel Opoku Agyemang was nearly lynched this morning December 6, 2017 when the mob realized that he was not a police officer.

The Ashanti Regional Police Visibility and Accessibility Command picked information that the suspect was impersonating as a policeman, wearing police uniform and taking bribe from drivers at Mbrom.

Police Officers who came to the scene saved the suspect from been assaulted by the angry mob at Mbrom.

One driver Kofi Mensah told Abusua FM’s Osei Kwadwo that the suspect came to Mbrom early in the morning and started arresting the drivers.

“He told me to show him my license after doing that he told me to give him GHC20 before he will allow me to go. His attitude even showed that he was not a police officer. If not the police officers who came here, he would have been dead by now,” he said.

The Ashanti Regional Police Visibility and Accessibility Commander after interrogation transferred the suspect to the Ashanti Regional Police Command. The suspect Emmanuel Opoku Agyemang is currently at Central Police station.
