The Kasoa Divisional Police Command has arrested 14 persons suspected to be fake military officers at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.
This followed a report made to the police by the Omankrado of Gomoa Fetteh, Nana Kwesi Quansah.
With a joint police and military team, the operation was carried out over the weekend to close down the base of the suspected officers.
Items such as military bags, boots, uniform, ID cards, military caps, among other things, were retrieved from the suspects.
According to the Gomoa Ojobi District Police Commander, DSP David Osei Fofie, investigations on the true identities of the suspected fake military officers is being carried out.
“We are collaborating with the military to identify the person who brought them to this area, whether he is a real military officers or not,” DSP Fofie told the media in Twi.
He noted that the arrested persons mentioned one Kabikay as the one who brought them into the area.
DSP David Osei Fofie said the arrested persons have been arraigned before the Kasoa Circuit Court, and the Court subsequently remanded them and they are due to reappear on February 6, 2019.
Meanwhile, the Kasoa Divisional Police Command has arrested a 65-year-old Nana Kabikay, who is suspected to be behind the illegal military camp.
According to the police, Nana Kabikay allegedly contracted the suspected fake military men to assassinate the Omankrado of Gomoa Fetteh Nana Kwesi Quansah I.
A statement has been taken from Nana Kabikay, who was arrested at Dansoman in Accra, and he is being processed for court.
