The Ghana Police Service has arrested a fake soldier at Aplaku in the Greater Accra Region.
The suspect, Prince Essel, was arrested on 22 June 2019 by a patrol team at about 2:30 p.m.
The suspect, who was in army fatigues had in his possession a jackknife, a pair of handcuffs, one bayonet, a number of military recruitments forms, a first aid box containing two lighters and a roll of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp.
A police situation report sighted by ClassFMonline.com said the patrol team was returning from duty and met the suspect driving a white Mitsubishi Gallant saloon car with registration number GW 7991-12 toward Old Barrier.
The suspect, upon seeing the police patrol car tried to hide, which got the police officers suspicious.
The police gave chase and arrested him.
The suspect could not disclose his unit upon interrogation.
Upon a search on him, the police found 10 complimentary cards bearing the name Captain of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) and at the Office of the President.
The suspect later denied being a military officer and has since been detained.
